The company started in 2003 and has built up an enviable reputation for design and innovation in solar powered consumer products under the name Smart Solar.

In 2014, Smart Solar became Smart Garden Products (SGP) and introduced more than 350 new products in 6 distinct garden product categories.

Rebrand and relaunch brief

Once Smart Solar became Smart Garden Products and the new product lines were introduced, a new website was essential.

The new website needed to:

  • Reinforce SGP’s position as one of the leading suppliers of garden products
  • Showcase the full range of brands and products with rich imagery and media suitable for both trade and consumer audiences
  • Provide trade buyers with information and tools to enhance sales
  • Act as a retail ecommerce channel for the purchase of consumables and spare parts
  • Make it easy for consumers to locate garden centres that stock SGP products

The new responsive website ensured that it worked across all mobile, tablet and desktop devices equally well.

Consumers were catered for by the introduction of a stockist locator; this enabled website visitors easily find out which stores stock the products they are interested in. 

A prominent search enabled users to search across all site content.

It was essential that the SGP marketing team could manage the content confidently and easily once the new website was live. 

This knowledge transfer was achieved by the creation of a bespoke CMS usage guide, delivering a content management training programme and supporting the marketing team with content entry and crafting in the run up to go-live.

Additionally, to help ensure that the new content was search engine friendly and optimised user experiences, we also provided SGP with editorial copywriting guidelines.
