The Museum of English Rural Life (the MERL) - owned by the University of Reading - uses its diverse collection of over 25,000 objects dating from the past 200 years to discover how the skills and experiences of farmers and craftsmen in the past can help shape our lives now and in the future.
Beginning in 2014 the project to redevelop the museum involved rebranding, renovating the museum by creating new galleries, and implementation of a new communication strategy with digital at its heart.
Obergine has been delighted to support this rebrand by creating a new website that caters for museum audiences ranging from families to academics to partners and volunteers. The website communicates and reinforces the museums mission by showcasing the objects and collections, and providing information about events and activities at the museum. The site is designed to encourage people to learn more about England’s rural past, and to inspire them to visit the museum.
