White Scar Cave

Tourism website brief

The brief focused on driving cave visits and ticket sales. To achieve this, the new website needed to:

  • Communicate the heritage, history and majesty of White Scar Cave

  • Provide content that compels people to visit

  • Appeal to a broad range of audiences across demographics including schools, cavers, families and other tourist groups

  • Encourage people to visit the cave and share the site with others

The Brief

The solution

The emergence of mobile over the past 5 years as the preferred communication channel for many consumers meant the key project challenges were:

  • Creation of a multi-channel user experience that reflected White Scar Cave's reputation as a premier tourist destination and site of natural beauty

  • Giving enough information and imagery to drive cave enquiries and ultimately visits

Solution

Mobile first

Utilising responsive design techniques, the new website has been designed to cater first for mobile users by providing them with everything they need to learn about the cave, why they should visit and how to get there.

The new site was designed with the philosophy of "less is more" which reflects the trend for delivering content quickly and in bite sized chuncks as more and more consumers use mobile devices as their first point of call when researching holidays and days out.
